Coke is made from coal that is turned into coke.
Coal is heated in the absence of oxygen to 1250°C that removes any impurities in coal, while it is a porous material nearly all carbon.
Coke is used as a heat source and a reducing agent in melting iron ore.
Usage:
- Source in blast furnace
- Iron ore revival
- Making porosity to passing regenerative gas
- Cast iron carbonization
