Coke is a coal-based material that is used in many industrial processes, including steel production, aluminum, oil refining, and more.

There are two types of coke: high carbon coke and light coke. High carbon coke is mostly used in the production of steel and alloys, while light coke is mostly used in aluminum production.

Description

Coke is made from coal that is turned into coke.

Coal is heated in the absence of oxygen to 1250°C that removes any impurities in coal, while it is a porous material nearly all carbon.

Coke is used as a heat source and a reducing agent in melting iron ore.

Usage:

  • Source in blast furnace
  • Iron ore revival
  • Making porosity to passing regenerative gas
  • Cast iron carbonization
